Baltic Amber
Images coming soon!
Amber is petrified tree resin from the Neolithic period, about 10,000 years ago. The best specimens seem to be found in the Baltic area, primarily Russia and Poland near and in the Baltic sea. The Dominican Republic and Columbia also mine amber, though not in the rich variety of colors that the Baltics produce.
Being such a light and soft material, amber is often replicated in various types of plastic and inorganic resins. We have two reputable sources in Europe and one from Moscow that we have been dealing with for twenty years or so. It's nice to be able to buy with confidence!
