the past several years, I have been creating renderings of the St.
Lawrence River lighthouses & landmarks. These are made in a limited
edition, cast in fourteen karat gold, and presented with a
corresponding document card.
Recently, I have taken on such
commissions as private homes and cottages, business & club logos,
and yes, even boats! Great attention is paid to detail and sharp
relief on each project. Pieces can be underscored with a name, or
embellished with a precious gem or cloisonne’ enamel. Items can be
produced as pins, pendants, tacks or charms.
Summer cottages and Winter homes have
been exceptionally popular. . . . pendants for all the ‘ladies of
the house’ and tie tacks for the men. Most folks name their ‘camp’,
and I can lay that name in below the image (see photos). Sometimes
customers families will ‘sneak’ them away a year later to have me
mount a diamond in the front door or picture window for an
anniversary or Christmas gift!
With size, weight, gems, and other
available options, it is difficult to give a blanket price for this
custom service. As you might guess, all the art work, time, and most
of the labor goes into the making of the first issue of a series.
Subsequent orders hinge only on the gold market, and take but a few
weeks to complete. A neighborhood price? About $400. for the initial
piece, and around $200. for subsequent pieces.
Detailed photos and a description of
changes, additions and deletions are all that is required for a FIRM
bid and progress to begin. From the time the design is agreed upon
to delivery is less than two months. Once the mold is made, it is
kept by myself for the sole usage of the customer.
As I review the renderings I’ve done,
I realize that All of them been ordered as gifts by family members.
Often times siblings will ‘chip in’ on one for Mom; a great idea for
the one ‘who has everything’ or ‘’wants for nothing’. Home is where
the heart is, and this one of a kind gift puts ‘home’ and ‘heart’
close at hand; an heirloom to be treasured for years to come!
